Violette: Chief Creative Director

An official profile of Violette, my dog and primary creative collaborator. Her contributions to the writing process are immeasurable. Her opinions on deadlines are not suitable for print.

It is time to give credit where credit is due.

VIOLETTE Chief Creative Director, Lisa A. Moore Author Brand Professional Lap-Warmer Consultant on Atmospheric Napping Techniques

Violette joined the creative team several years ago, arriving with strong opinions about lap positioning and an apparently innate understanding of when her human needed a break. Her contributions to the writing process are as follows:

Strategic Interruptions: Violette has an uncanny ability to demand attention at precisely the moment when a plot problem is about to be solved. This is not, as it might appear, counterproductive. The walk she demands invariably produces the solution. She is, in this way, a genius.

Atmospheric Consultation: When writing scenes that require a sense of warm, comfortable domesticity, the kind that makes the horror or danger land harder by contrast, Violette provides invaluable reference material simply by existing in the room.

Deadline Management: Violette's opinions on deadlines are not suitable for a family-friendly blog. She believes deadlines are a human construct and that the correct response to an approaching deadline is to request a walk, a snack, and a cuddle, in that order. She is wrong about this. She is also very soft, so she gets away with it.

Manuscript Review: Violette has reviewed every manuscript I have written. Her feedback is consistent: she finds them acceptable as lap-warming material, and she has no notes.

I could not do this without her. I mean that sincerely, and also slightly sarcastically, and also completely sincerely.

Violette did not contribute to the writing of this post. She was asleep.
