Welcome to the official home of Lisa A. Moore, where the gas lamps are always burning, the stories never sleep, and the barmaid serving your drink may or may not be cursed. (She is. She definitely is. But she makes excellent cocktails, so we have all agreed not to mention it.)
After years of writing in the shadows, I have finally decided to step into the gaslight and introduce myself properly. I am Lisa A. Moore, author of urban fantasy, magical realism, and gaslamp noir. I write stories about people who live in the spaces between worlds: the half-human, half-selkie woman navigating a modern city that does not quite know what to do with her; the undead barmaid bound by an unbreakable curse in a fog-choked alley; the characters who make terrible decisions for entirely understandable reasons.
This blog, The Alley Dispatch, will be the place where I pull back the curtain on the creative process, share news about upcoming releases, and occasionally wander into the weeds about things like the history of Victorian alchemy, the folklore of selkies, or why I have decided to learn bookbinding at 11pm on a Tuesday.
